biography
Stephanie
Rogers grew up along Chicago's north shore and attended Northwestern
University for theatre. Stephanie
was asked to sing for a role in a school play, which led
to an invitation to front her first band, thereby introducing
her to music
and forever rocking her once-peaceful world. Equally
influenced by
both Chrissie
Hynde
and Meryl
Streep,
she
commenced playing the role of
theatre student-by-day and bar singer-by-night and upon graduating,
continued performing edgy music while pursuing an acting
career.
Stephanie
moved to LA for film and tv work shortly after college and while
starring in over fifty commercials, movies and television shows
(see resume),
befriended the "hippies in the canyon" who taught her
how to play guitar. Again music called to her, so Steph quietly
performed on the LA grunge circuit and in 1996, after almost two
years, she found herself facing two major surgeries. She came
back to Chicago to be with her family and started writing songs
and studying composition.
Stephanie
met her husband one week after surgery while playing at an open
mike night at The Charleston in Bucktown, where she was able to
fine-tune her skills as a songwriter with a regular bi-weekly
gig. She also sang with local bands at that time and in 1999,
Stephanie created Hipchick Records to release her first collection
of original songs entitled "Not
To Keep." She also established her publishing label,
Moonbath Music, and formed her own band.
Stephanie's
band, comprised of topnotch Chicago musicians,
plays regularly around the city's club scene and at Navy Pier.
She also performs for private functions with The
Stephanie Rogers Band, and when not acting as band leader,
Stephanie is a freelance vocalist for society bands The Eddie
Harrison Orchestra, The Stanley Paul Orchestra and The Ken Arlen
Orchestra. She is also a proud member of Brother Brother, one
of Chicago's top groovin' funk/pop bands and is a featured singer
with the popular "Ladies of The Canyon" tribute project.
Stephanie has also been heard on many jingles.
Stephanie
Rogers has received excellent reviews for "Not To Keep." She has
also completed her second pop-rock cd, the indie "Your
New Life." It features 12 original songs that were
recorded with producer Danny Shaffer over two years.
Stephanie
has won high honors with The John Lennon Songwriting Contest
and is a featured singer in The
Chicago
Showcase
Circuit. She has been seen on WGN's Battle of The Bands (her
band won) and is often heard on Chicago area radio. She and
her hubby have a beautiful son and she spends her spare time
traveling, reading and in pursuit of amity.
Stephanie is a member of the
following unions and organizations:
ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers)
SAG (Screen Actors Guild)
AFTRA (American Federation of TV & Radio Artists)
